A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of a man, Sanusi Dankaka, at the Kuje Correctional Centre over allegations that he threatened to release nude videos and photographs purportedly involving Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Justice Salim Ibrahim made the order on Monday after the Department of State Services arraigned Dankaka on two counts bordering on alleged cybercrime.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/699/2026, was filed by the DSS on October 22, 2026, over alleged offences said to have been committed in October.
In the first count, the prosecution alleged that Dankaka, alongside other persons still at large, used a Facebook account bearing the name Sanusi Dankaka Yahaya to threaten to publish the governor’s alleged nude videos and photographs.
The DSS further alleged that the purported publication was false and intended to cause annoyance, inconvenience, insult and injury to the governor.
The prosecution said the alleged conduct contravened Section 27(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, as amended, and was punishable under Section 24(1) of the same law.
When the matter came up in court on Monday, DSS counsel, Yusuf Afegbua, informed the judge that the case was scheduled for hearing.
Counsel to the defendant, Kauna Penzin, also indicated her readiness to proceed.
However, after the charges were read to him, Dankaka denied the allegations.
Afegbua subsequently requested a trial date and urged the court to order the defendant’s remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the next hearing.
The defence counsel did not oppose the application.
Consequently, Justice Ibrahim ordered that Dankaka remain in custody and adjourned the case until December 7, 2026, for trial.
