The Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the arrest of Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti for assaulting police officer in Lagos.
The incident was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered this in a press release on Saturday May 13.
The statement reads, “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, who was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.”
Speaking on the incident, the IGP stated that “acts of contempt or disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated, offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book”.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many condemning the assault on the police officer.
In response to the incident, the IGP has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Kuti and to conduct a speedy and full investigation into the matter.
He added that the suspect will be prosecuted accordingly.
