Popular Nigerian TV Actress, Filmmaker and Movie Producer, Chief (Hon), Dr Rita Daniels Chukwuji has been conferred with the Order of the Black Africa Knights of Rasta-fari Emperor Haile Selassie; hence, she should be addressed as “Dame” Rita Daniels Chukwuji.
The knighthood is promoted by the Africa Indigenous Religious Committee of the International Human Rights Commission, (IHRC).
Similarly, she was also appointed as an Auxiliary Diplomat, a Special Representative Envoy to the African Union, by IHRC for her humanitarian services in community development, outstanding commitment to nondiscrimination and her push for various religions to evolve a peace and cooperation treaty.
The investiture conferment ceremony was well attended by top Nollywood actors, monarchs, and businessmen/ women at Asaba, Delta State capital on Saturday 20th of May 2023.
Stating why Rita Daniels was deemed fit for the honour, the Director/ Ambassador of the Africa Region Headquarters of IHRC, DR. Tivlumun Innocent Ahure, noted that Rita Daniels has been a long-standing African woman leader who has been promoting interfaith understanding and defending the freedom of religion which the African indigenous religions committee of IHRC promotes.
Ahure noted that Rita Daniels has also been a strong supporter of the IHRC, and her engagement in the Native Nations Inter-governmental Alliance, which strives to counter voices of hatred with voices of moderation.
In her acceptance speech, Rita Daniels noted that mutual understanding and interreligious dialogue constitute important dimensions of a culture of peace.
She said the mandate of IHRC is to promote peace, harmony between all people regardless of individual faith.
Adding that IHRC encourages individuals to spread the message of interfaith, harmony and goodwill in the world, churches, mosques, synagogues, temples and other places of worship on a voluntary basis.
She pledged total commitment to pursuing a course that will be of benefit to Delta State by commemorating the World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW) in Asaba.
In her statement, “I will work closely with the office of the chairman of the African Indigenous Religions Committee of the IHRC Africa Region HQ to get the Delta state authorities to see that the holding of the commemoration is not only held by February 2024 but it will continue in holding on a regular basis”
While she commended His Most Supreme Eminence, Dr. (Sir) Valentine Akpati for his commitment to the defence of interreligious and intercultural dialogue tolerance and diversity as a richness for the society.
Before now, Dame Chief Hon (Dr.) Rita Daniels Chukwuji was the Former Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Delta state, Former Councillor of Aniocha South LGA, Delta state, Former Majority leader of Aniocha South legislative Arm and founder of Rita Daniels single and parenthood girl child initiative and lot more.
