The Katsina State Police Command has successfully rescued two university students and another individual who were kidnapped by armed bandits.
The victims, identified as Ibrahim Abdulwaheed and Abdulrahman Abdulwasiu, both students of Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA), were freed from captivity. Alongside them, 55-year-old Malam Dauda Magini of Bayan Radio quarters, Dutsinma LGA, Katsina State, was also rescued.
According to a statement by ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the command’s spokesperson, the incident occurred on August 3, 2023, at around 0209 hrs, when a group of terrorist-bandits stormed Bayan Radio quarters on the outskirts of Dutsinma LGA.
The kidnappers, armed with dangerous weapons, abducted the victims.
Responding swiftly to the report, Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, activated a comprehensive search and rescue operation.
The Area Commander Dutsinma, DPO Dutsinma, and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, led by CSP Andrew Alphouse, were deployed to locate and secure the kidnapped victims.
After meticulous combing of the surrounding area, the rescue team successfully located the victims unharmed. The kidnapped individuals were promptly transported to a medical facility for necessary medical attention.
The Katsina State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents, and expressed its determination to continue combating criminal activities and safeguarding the well-being of the public.
