Residents of Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State,have expressed their dissatisfaction with the planned commissioning of the Ibooro/Imasayi/Ayetoro road by the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the controversy arises from the fact that only a portion of the road has been completed, leaving a significant stretch unfinished.
Concerned citizens were raising their voices against what they consider a premature celebration of an incomplete project.
“This is not how it’s done in other places like Remo, Egba, and Ijebu axis,” exclaimed one resident.
The sentiment is echoed by many who believe that the people of Yewa deserve the same level of commitment and attention from their government.
In response to the invitation for the commissioning event, residents have questioned the decision to proceed with the ceremony without completing the road.
“Let us wait for the intervention of Almighty Father,” one resident commented, expressing hope for a timely resolution.
PLATFORM TIMES further gathered that the controversy gains further momentum as this is not the first time the road has been reportedly commissioned.
One of the residents complained that during the election campaign, the same road was inaugurated, raising concerns about the continuous cycle of incomplete projects.
“Can we refer to this third commissioning as a scam or should we wait for the fourth?” questioned a local journalist, highlighting the frustration felt by the community.
The concerned youths of Yewa North have also voiced their dissent, condemning the decision to commission an unfinished road.
They called upon prominent figures such as Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, and Hon Adegoke Awoso to intervene and advocate for the completion of the road before any further ceremonial activities.
As the controversy brews, citizens remain resolute in their demand for accountability and quality infrastructure.
The government is now under pressure to address the concerns raised by the people of Yewa North and ensure that their constitutional responsibility is met in full.
