Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has announced that skit makers Layi Wasabi and Sisi Quadri, along with actress Aunty Ramota, will feature in the four-part sequel series of his Yoruba epic “Anikulapo,” titled “Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre.”
Kunle unveiled Layi Wasabi and Sisi Quadri in an Instagram post on Tuesday, showcasing a scene shot during production.
He tagged their Instagram accounts in the caption.
He also revealed Aunty Ramota through a separate Instagram post on Wednesday, featuring her image from a scene during filming.
The 48-year-old filmmaker wrote, “Guess who this is?? ‘Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre’ is coming.”
According to Kunle’s Instagram post on Monday, the movie sequel will include returning stars such as Sola Sowobale, Kunle Remi, and Bimbo Ademoye, alongside Owobo Ogunde, Gabriel Afolayan, Lateef Adedimeji, Eyiyemi Afolayan, Uzee Usman, Oyinda Sanni, and Taiwo Hassan.
Released in 2022, “Anikulapo” holds an IMDb rating of 5.5 and is distributed by Netflix.
The movie received 16 nominations at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCAs) and won five of them, including the award for Best Overall Movie in Africa.
