In a shocking revelation, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has unveiled that the recent raid on female hostels, resulting in the theft of valuable belongings, at the Rivers State University in Port Harcourt, was orchestrated by students of the institution.

Governor Fubara made this revelation during his visit to the university premises in the aftermath of the incident, which led to a protest by the affected female students.

The unfortunate incident occurred when a group of suspected armed robbers stormed three hostels adjacent to the university’s back gate on Thursday.

Their brazen act resulted in the looting of mobile phones, laptops, and other precious items. Tragically, four students suffered injuries during the course of the robbery.

Expressing his condemnation of the deplorable attack, Governor Fubara asserted the necessity of identifying and bringing the culprits to justice.

He vehemently stated, “The audacity of such an act in this modern age is deeply disheartening.

To invade a female hostel with the intent to harass and violate young women is simply unacceptable.”

Governor Fubara not only dispatched his aides and the police but also personally visited the site to assess the situation.

He declared his unwavering commitment to ensuring that the guilty parties are apprehended.

He firmly affirmed, “Rest assured, we will unearth those responsible.

My belief is that these wrongdoers are not external elements; rather, they are fellow students within these very walls.”

The governor emphasized that the state government is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for the injured students, underscoring his determination to prevent any future reoccurrence of such heinous acts.

He pledged to implement stringent measures to bolster security and guarantee the safety of all students within the university premises
