Borno  Gov. Donates N36M, Essential Supplies To NYSC Members

In a generous show of support, Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, has extended a heartwarming gesture to the 1,215 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members currently deployed within the state.

The governor announced a remarkable donation of N36 million, distributing N30,000 to each NYSC member, during his visit to the NYSC orientation camp in the state capital, Maiduguri.

The uplifting news was confirmed by Isa Gusau, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, who issued a statement on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Governor Zulum’s philanthropic spirit didn’t stop at monetary assistance, as he also allocated essential supplies to the corps members to ensure their well-being during the ongoing three-week orientation.

A hundred bags of rice, ten cows, ten bags of 100kg beans, and ten gallons of cooking oil were designated for the preparation of special meals.

Governor Zulum expressed his sentiment during the visit, saying, “We want to extend palliatives to members of the National Youth Service Corps. Each one of you will receive the sum of N30,000, that amount will be credited to your accounts as soon as your bank details are provided to me.

In addition to that, we have provided you with 100 bags of rice, 10 bags of 100kg beans, 10 gallons of cooking oil, and 10 bulls.”

He went on to emphasize the importance of camaraderie and peaceful coexistence among the corps members, encouraging them to contribute to the fostering of peace within the nation.

This act of benevolence takes on special significance as NYSC orientation activities resumed last week in Borno State after a suspension of 13 years due to insurgency concerns.

During the swearing-in ceremony at the orientation camp, Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating an environment that is exceptionally friendly to corps members.

He assured the young individuals that their service year in Borno State would leave them with positive and enduring memories.

This remarkable initiative not only showcases the governor’s dedication to the welfare of NYSC members but also underscores the resilient spirit of Borno State as it strives for progress amidst challenges.
