The People’s Democratic Party in Ogun State, has described the All Progressives Congress as a party with full of cultists and corrupt people .
The party stated this on Sunday while reacting to the attack by the APC which accused it of accommodating cultists.
The APC had earlier issued a statement attacking the PDP, labeling it the party whose membership is majorly cultists.
Reacting to the allegations, PDP in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Asiwaju Akinloye Bankole said the APC has made the state which was once a beacon of potential greatness to a dark cloud of stagnation .
Bankole added that the state has descended over the past four years when the state governor, Dapo Abiodun was sworn in .
The statement read that citizens, both young and old, now turn to divine intervention as they endure a dishonorable government that has brought shame, hardship, and insecurity to their lives.
According to him, daily life in Ogun has become a battle against the fear of where the next cult killing will occur.
” In March 2023, a woman lost her daughter when rival cult groups clashed, revealing the unsettling presence of these violent factions in the heart of the community.
“Ogun State, known for its promise of prosperity and increased investment, has regressed under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, a man whose credentials and actions have raised eyebrows from the outset of his tenure.
“From allegations of fraudulent activities to his alleged involvement in a violent confrontation with another man’s wife, Governor Abiodun’s leadership has been marred by controversy and a perceived lack of integrity.
“The administration’s questionable choices extend to its appointees, who have tarnished the state’s reputation. Several government officials have faced allegations and legal troubles, casting a shadow over the state’s integrity.
“These include individuals like Bidemi Rufai, a former SSA who faced charges related to fraudulent unemployment funds in the U.S., and Oguns State Commissioner for Environment, Environman, who abruptly resigned after facing a rape accusation and allegedly tampering with witnesses.
“Furthermore, violent clashes, political manipulations, and embezzlement allegations have become routine occurrences in Ogun State. The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Olakunle Oluomo, faced numerous charges, including conspiracy, forgery, and money laundering, involving a staggering sum of 245 billion naira, all within this administration.
“Cult killings and criminal associations continue to plague the state, with evidence linking government officials to these activities. The former state’s Special Assistant to governor,.on students matters, Azeez Adeyemi, was accused of turning a blind eye to family members involved in cult activities.
“The list of concerning incidents goes on, painting a grim picture of Ogun State under Governor Abiodun’s rule. As these issues persist, it becomes increasingly evident that the state’s security situation is deeply intertwined with the actions of the ruling APC party.
“In light of these challenges, the people of Ogun State pray for a brighter future, one where their well-being and peace can be restored. They look toward the tribunal and the hope that Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, their chosen candidate, can bring positive change to their beloved state.”
