The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, has raised concerns about threats to his life in the wake of the ongoing impeachment process of Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
In a troubling development, mysterious objects were discovered at the entrance to his official lodge, intensifying fears for his safety.
Oladiji revealed that these threats began when the impeachment proceedings against the deputy governor commenced, leaving him deeply unsettled.
He urgently appealed to the state’s security agencies to apprehend those responsible for the ominous actions.
Addressing journalists in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Oladiji shared his unsettling experience: “Very early this morning, when I was about to leave, I saw an object in front of my lodge.
These threats started since the day we initiated the impeachment process. I have been receiving strange calls.
My life has also been under serious threat from unknown people. I want to call on the people of Ondo State and security operatives to track these people down.”
Additionally, Oladiji disclosed that the House had served Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa with a letter of allegations, marking the commencement of the impeachment process.
He clarified that the service was carried out through a substituted method, as the deputy governor had been elusive.
This development follows last week’s decision by the House to direct the Clerk to write to the deputy governor, accusing him of gross misconduct.
Oladiji assured that despite the pressures and threats he faces, he remains steadfast in carrying out his legislative responsibilities
