    Suspected Train Coach Theft Foiled In Maiduguri; Six Arrested

     In a remarkable turn of events, six individuals have been apprehended in connection with an alleged attempt to pilfer train coaches in the Borno State capital. 

    The incident unfolded following a tip-off from vigilant residents of Bayan quarters, the headquarters of the railway station.

    Commissioner of Police (CP) Yusufu Mohammed disclosed that the suspects were captured as they were about to transport two train coaches on a trailer to Jos, Plateau State.

     The alleged mastermind, who posed as a railway corporation employee from Bauchi State, claimed to be acting under an agreement between the Plateau State Government and the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) for intra-state transportation services.

     However, further investigation revealed that the suspect had provided false information.

    CP Mohammed revealed that the seized coaches were destined for Jos, while six of the apprehended suspects were already in the custody of the Borno Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for their involvement in attempting to transport the coaches out of Borno.

    Meanwhile, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has categorically denied any attempted theft of its train coaches in Maiduguri. NRC Managing Director Fidel Okhiria clarified the situation in a statement, countering online reports. 

    According to Okhiria, the coaches seen in viral videos were being relocated to Jos, Plateau State, for maintenance and refurbishment as part of the NRC’s efforts to extend Rail Mass Transit services across the countr
