Delta State Commissioner for Bureau for Special Duties, Hon. Etagherure Ejiro Terry has described the incessant increment of food items by business owners across the nation as ” Greed for Wealth”
The commissioner spoke yesterday during the World Food Day celebration at Asaba, while lamenting that business owners are complicating things in the country.
He said that some food items might not necessarily be as expensive, but greed for wealth business owners is unnecessarily inflating the prices of their commodities.
While narrating his experience at the market, he said a bunch of plantains at the local market ordinary won’t be more than N5,000-N6,000 by estimation, was doubled up to N12,000 the moment they saw him in an official car.
He added, “let be our brothers keepers and also think of helping the nation, “some of us are increasing the price of the commodity unnecessary in the name of high price of fuel or the government”.
He, however, advised business owners to trade with caution to help ourselves irrespective of the economy right now.
