In a bid to promote community health and well-being, the non-governmental organization (NGO) Glam Golden Divas Club recently kicked off its 2023 medical outreach in Lagos, advocating for increased attention to health among Nigerians.
The club’s president, Mrs Zino Akinrefon, emphasized the importance of good health as a cornerstone of wealth during the launch, which also included a visit to an orphanage.
Focusing on grassroots communities, particularly the less privileged, the club conducted a screening and treatment session for over 100 market men and women in Idimu market, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The initiative aimed to address health issues such as blood pressure and diabetes among individuals who might face challenges affording such tests.
“The screening and treatment exercises, which primarily targeted market women and men, took place on Friday, December 1, 2023, while our visitation and donation to the orphanage occurred on Saturday, December 2, 2023,” explained Mrs. Akinrefon.
Emphasizing that Glam Golden Divas Club operates independently of religious or political affiliations, Akinrefon highlighted the organization’s commitment to allocating resources, time, and other valuables to impactful activities.
The club’s spokesperson, Bukola Ibrahim, outlined their dedication to positively impacting the less privileged and children in need through regular and well-focused charity programs.
Comprising professionals with a shared compassion for women and children in need, the association conducted its first major activities with the blood pressure and diabetes screening exercises and the visitation to the orphanage.
As the medical outreach unfolds, Glam Golden Divas Club sets the stage for ongoing efforts to contribute significantly to community health and the well-being of those in need.
