The Transparency and Accountability Network (TAN) has called for joint efforts to combat corruption, asserting that no one should be exempt from this collective responsibility.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered this in a Press release jointly signed by Jubril Lawal (National coordinator) and Akin Soleye (National secretary) on Sunday.

The Network lamented that the statistics by Transparent International (TI) that reveals that Nigeria is occupying 150 position out of about 180 corrupt countries of the world is not encouraging.

TAN maintained that the distressing revelation underscores the urgent attention of government representatives, Law enforcement agencies as well as civil society organizations and other stakeholders to join forces to fight this monster.

TAN said, “the “disease is corruption”. The “vaccine is transparency”. We all must know that fighting corruption is not just good governance, it is self defense. When you don’t stand against corruption, you indirectly support it.

“Transparency and Accountability Network (TAN) condemns a situation where the renumeration of National Assembly members and other top appointees of the Federal Government are not disclosed to the public. To us, it is the height of corruption in the land which should not be encouraged”.

TAN also called on the government to strengthen all anti corruption agencies in the country for efficient and effective service delivery and charged the judiciary to be up and doing in providing justice in all corruption cases.
