I Supported Obaseki  In Naira, Dollars… Now I See Wickedness-Edo Deputy Gov

In a startling revelation, Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has expressed deep regret and feelings of betrayal as he accuses Governor Godwin Obaseki of scamming him despite significant contributions in both naira and dollars to secure the PDP ticket.

During an interview on Arise TV, Shaibu disclosed that despite bringing political value, financial support, and contributing his personal vehicles for the 2016 campaign, Governor Obaseki has refused to endorse his candidature in the upcoming 2024 governorship election.

Shaibu, who initially hesitated to become the deputy governor, revealed that he accepted the role to add value to Obaseki’s ticket, bringing both political experience and a winning track record.

However, he now feels betrayed, stating, “When we go to church, there are certain biblical verses that are beginning to make meaning to me.

There is this particular verse that has been going through my mind: ‘The heart of man is desperately wicked.’ When I see what the governor is doing, the verse now makes meaning to me.”

The deputy governor emphasized the extent of his support, stating, “I supported the second term bid of the governor with my finances. Including how we got the ticket of the PDP, I contributed financially, both in naira and in dollars.

If I say betrayal, it’s an understatement. I feel very hurt and betrayed.”

This revelation adds a new dimension to the political landscape in Edo State, as it raises questions about loyalty, trust, and the dynamics within the ruling party.

As the 2024 governorship election approaches, Shaibu’s accusations may have far-reaching consequences for the political future of both individuals involved and the broader political scenario in Edo State.
