In a disturbing turn of events, Mrs. Helen Odunubi, the proprietress of Excel Group of Schools in Ogun State, has been  allegedly abducted by unidentified individuals on Friday within the school premises.

The incident  occurred at approximately 1 pm in the Ogunsua Crescent, Oserw Baba Odun Matogbun area of Agbado.

According to a source, the trouble began when two women and two men drove an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Sienna directly to the school proprietress’ office.

Ayodeji Odunubi, the son of the 56-year-old victim, informed the police that the suspects, unfamiliar to the area, forcibly took his mother and swiftly fled in the same vehicle.

As of the latest report on Sunday, Mrs. Odunubi remains missing, and no communication regarding a ransom has been established between the abductors and the family.

Omolola Odutola, the Public Relations Officer for the police command, assured that collaborative efforts with local security outfits are underway to locate and rescue the victim.

In a related incident, a 29-year-old Thai expatriate named Chotika Sabrit has been declared missing in the Makun Sagamu area of Ogun State.

An employee at the Dragon Inn Restaurant and Spa, Sabrit disappeared after leaving the company’s premises on Tuesday. Despite extensive efforts, her whereabouts are still unknown, and no ransom demands have been made.

Omolola Odutola, confirming the situation, stated that intensified efforts are being made to locate the missing

Thai expatriate, emphasizing the language barrier as she can only communicate in Thai.

Furthermore, the report highlighted a case involving a 70-year-old piggery farmer and elder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pa Adeife Ifelaja.

Allegedly kidnapped on December 31, 2023, and held captive for nine days, the abductors demanded a N50 million ransom.

The state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, assured ongoing efforts to secure the release of the elderly man.

In another incident reported on December 4, 2023, suspected hoodlums attacked a poultry farm in Atoyo town, Itele area of Ogun State.

Six individuals were initially kidnapped, including the owner, and taken to a forest where their mobile phones were confiscated.

Subsequently, the owner and one other person were released, while three victims remained captive. The state police command disclosed that two individuals linked to the crime have been apprehended.

These recent events raise concerns about the security situation in Ogun State, prompting authorities to intensify efforts to address and curtail the rising wave of kidnappings in the region.
