In a shocking turn of events, the death of Abdul-Rahman Sanusi, a JSS1 student of a private primary school in Obada-Oko, has left the school management and the local community questioning the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Sanusi reportedly took his own life shortly after being scolded by his parents for arriving late from school, as exclusively reported by PLATFORM TIMES last week.
The unfortunate incident occurred when Sanusi, along with his elder brother and junior sister, returned home late, a routine that, according to school head Mrs. Olusesi Taiwo, was not uncommon for the siblings.
Mrs. Taiwo expressed disbelief at the accusations of scolding, stating, “That day was not the first time he goes home late, and the scolding they said the parent gave him was not true because even if the parent scolded, they would have scolded all three of them.”
Mr. Muhammed Salami, a teacher in the school, refuted claims of academic stress or bullying, describing Sanusi as an active and cheerful boy who even played football on the day of the tragic incident.
Salami emphasized that the school had not observed any signs of psychological distress in the student.
A concerned resident, opting to remain anonymous, questioned how a young JSS1 student could contemplate such a drastic step, suggesting that there might have been underlying issues the boy faced.
The source urged parents to pay close attention to their children, emphasizing the importance of being attuned to potential signs of distress and offering support.
Even the school’s security guard, who witnessed Sanusi leaving the premises with his siblings, expressed shock at the sudden turn of events.
“This is really terrible,” the security guard lamented, highlighting the swift and unexpected nature of the tragedy.
As investigations unfold, both the school and the community are grappling with the grief and confusion surrounding Sanusi’s untimely demise.
The suspicion of foul play looms large, prompting a call for a thorough examination of the circumstances leading to the young student’s decision to take his own life.
