    Strengthening Institutions Key To Nigeria’s Economic Revival, Prof. Tayo Emphasizes

    President/Vice Chancellor, Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo,Ogun State,  Professor Ademola Tayo has  underscored the pivotal role of robust institutions in Nigeria’s economic recovery.

    Professor Tayo said this in a compelling keynote address at the 9th annual international academic conference on accounting and finance,

     The event, organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) was held  in collaboration with Babcock University and the African Accounting and Financial Association (AAFA).

    The event was  centered around the theme, “Building a virile economy through Industrial Revolution, Technology Advancements, and Creative Capacity Development.”

    Speaking on the theme, Babcock VC emphasized the urgent need for Nigeria to fortify its institutions, asserting that only nations with sturdy foundations can weather the storms of life and revive their economies. 

    He stressed, “today, stable economies are characterized by strong institutions, and therefore Nigeria must enhance its institutional quality promptly. ICAN, as a key player, has a significant role to play in this regard.”

    Calling upon professionals to wield their influence in rescuing the nation, Professor Tayo stated, “at stable economy hinges on our institutions performing their expected roles.” 

    He applauded ICAN for bridging the gap between academia and practice, emphasizing the importance of professionals impacting the classroom environment.

    The chairman of the Research Committee, Mallam Haruna Yahaya, highlighted the conference’s role in fostering the intersection of theory and practice. 

    Yahaya emphasized the need for scholars, practitioners, and thought leaders to collaborate, transforming the industry and shaping the financial landscape.

     He noted the committee’s responsibility in identifying research areas and connecting academic projects with technical expertise crucial for knowledge advancement and innovation.

    Professor Festus Adegbie, Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee, aligned the conference theme with ICAN’s objective of contributing to the growth and development of the Nigerian economy. 

    He urged all delegates to actively engage in robust discussions, leveraging their intellectual energies to pioneer new understanding and innovation.
