The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended Captain Nuhu Haruna for an alleged criminal breach of trust amounting to N1,020,000,000 (One Billion, Twenty Million Naira).

The arrest was prompted by a petitioner who claimed that in December 2023, he engaged with the suspect for a foreign exchange transaction involving N1,020,000.00. Despite paying the amount into the suspect’s account, he never received the promised dollar equivalent.

The suspect had presented false evidence of payment.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Haruna, purportedly an airline captain, diverted the funds for personal use, acquiring properties and vehicles for the alleged startup of his airline company, Air Unity Aviation Services.

The suspect’s possessions include a landed property purchased at N155,000,000 and another at N350,000.

Additionally, three 18-Seater Toyota Hiace buses bearing the Air Unity Aviation Services logo and four exotic cars were traced to him.

At the conclusion of investigations, Haruna is set to face charges in court for his alleged fraudulent activities.
