In a commendable display of camaraderie and shared commitment to humanitarian causes, Alhadj S A Adepoju, the newly appointed Ogun State Controller of Corrections, on Thursday, received a courtesy visit from the National Coordinator of the Islamic Humanitarian Society of Nigeria (IHS), Hmn Abdulrasheed Okenla.

During the visit, Alhadj S A Adepoju expressed his gratitude for the impactful roles played by the Islamic Humanitarian Society in Ogun State.

He acknowledged that since assuming office, he had received information about the group’s dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of the less fortunate, particularly those in custody.

Addressing the group, the Ogun State Controller encouraged them not to relent in their efforts, emphasizing the importance of putting smiles on the faces of the needy, especially those within the correctional facilities.

He recognized the rewarding nature of their contributions and urged them to continue their giant strides in making a tangible difference in society.

In response, Abdulrasheed Okenla, the National Coordinator of IHS, expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded to the group by the Controller.

He noted that the reception was a testament to the positive reputation and impact the Islamic Humanitarian Society has built over the years.

Okenla further highlighted the group’s commitment to the “prisons and hospitals dawah” for over 24 years.

He attributed their dedication to the guidance and injunctions of Almighty Allah found in the Holy Qur’an and Hadith, emphasizing the importance of being our brothers’ keepers.

During his remarks, Okenla urged well-meaning Nigerians to join hands in making life habitable for others.

He stressed that the government alone cannot provide all the necessary support, and collective efforts are essential in reducing crime rates significantly.

The Ogun State Controller shared insightful experiences that could serve as guidance for the leadership and members of the Islamic Humanitarian Society.

The exchange of perspectives and experiences fostered a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the realm of humanitarian work.

The familiarisation meeting came to a close with Ustaz Fadlullah Fasali, signaling the end of the event.

As the Islamic Humanitarian Society and the Ogun State Controller of Corrections forge a collaborative path, the hope is that their joint efforts will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need within the society and correctional facilities.
