In a successful operation, detectives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Abia State unit, conducted a raid on a suspected baby factory in Aba, the bustling commercial hub of Abia State.
The swift response to credible intelligence led to the arrest of two individuals, Mrs. Onyinyechi Okoro, 29, from Ihechiowa in Arochukwu Local Government, Abia State, and Ekene Okezie, 32, from Arondizuogu in Ideato North Local Government Area, Imo State.
According to a press release signed by the police public relations officer (PPRO), Maureen Chinaka, the operation on March 7 resulted in the rescue of 16 pregnant women, aged between 17 and 27, and eight children, ranging from 2 to 11 years old.
The exact location of the baby factory was not disclosed by the PPRO, who emphasized the need to keep it confidential to avoid compromising the ongoing police investigation.
The arrested individuals are currently in police custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
The PPRO urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police, reinforcing the importance of collective efforts to combat criminal enterprises.
