In the early hours of Sunday, policemen attached to the Lagos Rapid Response Squad thwarted an audacious attempt to hijack their patrol bike in Ikeja.
A 19-year-old suspect, identified as Akinjobi Wahab, was apprehended while four of his accomplices managed to flee the scene.
According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the officers were conducting a patrol in plain clothes when they encountered the machete-wielding suspect attempting to seize their patrol bike.
“Rapid Response Squad operatives, patrolling incognito on a motorcycle, arrested the robbery suspect, Akinjobi Wahab, aged 19, in the act of trying to snatch their motorcycle,” Hundeyin stated.
The arrest took place around 4 am on Acme Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja, with four other individuals evading capture.
