In a significant crackdown on cybercrime, the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre apprehended Muhammed Zenabdin for criminal conspiracy and possession of suspected counterfeit currency, totaling $100,000, during a raid in Abuja.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the operation, carried out based on credible intelligence, targeted a suspected cybercrime hideout in Garki II, FCT. While other members of the criminal gang managed to evade capture, Muhammed Zenabdin was successfully apprehended.

He said upon executing a search warrant, law enforcement discovered compelling evidence implicating Zenabdin, including sophisticated counterfeit detection equipment, international passports, mobile phones, and a luxury vehicle, along with the suspected counterfeit bills.

According to Adejobi, Zenabdin has been providing   incriminating confessions and offered valuable information to assist in apprehending other members of the syndicate.

He added that the  investigation is ongoing, and Zenabdin, along with any accomplices, will face arraignment in court.

This arrest follows previous crackdowns on counterfeit currency operations, including the recent arrest of a couple, a former soldier, and a printer by the Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, Lagos, for producing fake currencies.

In February, the Gombe State Police Command also dismantled two currency syndicates in possession of $56,300 and N265,000 in counterfeited notes.
