    Former Driver Arrested for Killing Elderly Couple In Abuja Home

    Jonathan Marcus, a former driver to the late Adebola Ezekiel, 80, and his wife Abiodun Ezekiel, 79, has been apprehended for the alleged  gruesome murder of the elderly couple in their Apo residence. 

    PLATFORM TIMES reports that the  couple was found with their throats slit in a pool of blood earlier this month, sparking a swift and discreet investigation by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.

    According to FCT Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, Marcus was tracked down to his hideout in Obajana, Kogi State, where he was arrested.

    He added that  Marcus has confessed to the heinous crime, admitting to gaining entry into the couple’s home on the night of April 1st, 2024. 

    The CP  said  the suspect  stole their phones and ATM cards after brutally murdering them.

    PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the  discovery of the couple’s bodies came after one of their sons, unable to reach them by phone, requested assistance from a neighbour to check on his parents. 

    He was said to have upon finding the apartment locked, broken  in and made the horrifying discovery.

    The CP asserted that the suspect was trailed to and arrested in his hideout in Obajana, Kogi State.

     He added that the suspect had confessed to having gained access to the house on the same date, slit the throats of the aged couple and stolen their phones and ATM cards.

    He said, “Following the report of the gruesome murder of an elderly couple by the name; Adebola Ezekiel, 80 years and his wife Abiodun Ezekiel, 79 years in their residence in Apo legislative quarters, on 1st April, 2024, at about 11:00 PM, the operatives of the command in response commenced an immediate discreet investigation.

    “The investigation led to the arrest of one Jonathan Marcus, a former driver to the deceased couple. He was trailed to and arrested in his hideout in Obajana, Kogi state, after committing the grievous crime.

    “The suspect freely confessed to having gained access to the house on the same date, slit the deceased throat and made away with the phones and ATM cards of the couples. Suspect will be charged to court soon.”

     Marcus is expected to face charges in court soon, as the community mourns the loss of two beloved members.
