The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, has appealed to the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) for a strategic partnership aimed at bolstering investor confidence and revitalizing the nation’s economy.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Annual Public Relations Week of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Cardoso  said  the critical role of public relations in shaping perceptions and attracting investments to Nigeria.

Cardoso underscored the importance of restoring trust in the fiscal system to attract investors who will contribute to the country’s economic growth for the benefit of its citizens.

He stressed the need for a comprehensive approach by public relations experts to drive economic and reputational transformation.

Addressing the theme, “Strengthening Trust and Communication: The Role of Public Relations in Nigeria’s Economic Development,” Cardoso highlighted the CBN’s efforts to ensure price stability, control inflation, and sanitize the banking sector under his leadership.

He commended the institute’s commitment to promoting trust and honesty of purpose among its members and Nigerians, urging them to embrace the NIPR’s code of conduct.

Cardoso urged collaboration across sectors to overcome economic challenges and emphasized the importance of effective public relations in enhancing Nigeria’s reputation capital on the global stage.

He called for a cohesive public relations strategy aligned with the country’s economic goals, emphasizing that revitalizing Nigeria’s economy is a collective effort.

Cardoso expressed confidence that the knowledge-sharing experience at the NIPR conference would help delegates propose innovative solutions to the public relations challenges facing the country and organizations.

He reiterated the CBN’s commitment to championing initiatives for the nation’s betterment and implementing the right policies to drive economic prosperity.
