Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has voiced his outrage over the reported repatriation of Osun indigenes from Lagos State, prompting a challenge to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos to address the issue swiftly.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that residents of Osun state said luxury buses were sighted over the weekend, dropping off numerous youths in Ilesa in the State, allegedly after being rounded up by Lagos government authorities.
In a statement released by Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke has personally reached out to Governor Sanwo-Olu to address the issue and put an end to the reported incident.
An investigation team established by the Osun State Government has corroborated the authenticity of the reports, confirming the systematic dropping off of youths at various junctions in Ilesa and surrounding areas.
Eyewitnesses have supported the findings of the state investigation team, reporting the arrival of the youths in luxurious buses, allegedly under the supervision of a team from Lagos State.
It was further gathered that during his conversation with Governor Sanwoolu, Governor Adeleke expressed his shock over the incident and urged immediate action if the reports are confirmed to be true.
According to Rasheed, Governor Adeleke emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in handling such matters.
Governor Sanwoolu, in response, expressed surprise and denied authorizing such actions, promising a prompt investigation into the matter. He assured Governor Adeleke that updates on the investigation would be provided accordingly.
In the meantime, Governor Adeleke has directed security agencies in Osun State to closely monitor Ilesa and track the deported youths to ensure their safety and well-being.
He has urged residents to remain calm as security agencies conduct their surveillance and provide updates on the situation.
The incident has sparked concern and raised questions about the treatment of indigenes from one state by authorities in another.
