As Nigeria grapples with the perceived decay in its education sector, all eyes are on the upcoming edition of “Boiling Point Arena,” a monthly interview series slated for Sunday, May 12, 2024.
The program, known for its incisive discussions on pressing national issues, will tackle the alarming failure rates in the recent Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) examinations, along with a comprehensive review of governmental administration and policies spanning primary, secondary, and tertiary education levels.
Leading the discourse will be two esteemed figures in the field of education: Prof. Oluyemisi Obilade, former Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), and Prof. Kazeem, former Provost of Osun State College of Education, Ilesa (now University of Ilesa).
Their expertise, honed through years of academic and administrative leadership, promises to provide valuable insights into the root causes of educational decadence in Nigeria.
The online event, facilitated by Dr. Ayo Arowojolu, will be broadcast live via Zoom and Sweet 107.1FM, amplifying its reach to a diverse audience across the nation.
Dr. Arowojolu, with a distinguished career spanning media, banking, and education sectors, has been instrumental in fostering meaningful dialogue on critical issues affecting Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
Prof. Obilade, renowned for her contributions to adult education and women’s studies, brings a wealth of experience as a former Commissioner for Education in Osun State.
Similarly, Prof. Kazeem, an authority in adult and non-formal education, adds depth to the discussion with his scholarly insights from the University of Ibadan.
The 19th installment of “Boiling Point Arena” will focus on the theme “Are We Preparing A Generation of Illiterates? Woes And Solutions to Decadence in Nigeria’s Educational System,” underscoring the urgency of addressing systemic challenges within the education sector.
Professors Obilade and Kazeem are poised to analyze the inconsistencies in educational policies and propose actionable solutions to safeguard Nigeria’s future.
Adding to the gravity of the event, the keynote address will be delivered by the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof Saka Matemilola, Chairman of Boiling Point Council of Royals and Elders.
His perspective, rooted in traditional wisdom and leadership, will set the tone for a robust exchange of ideas aimed at charting a path forward.
In a statement, Mr. Eddy Ademosu, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, emphasized the imperative of addressing educational decadence and commended the partnership with Sweet FM for extending the programme’s reach.
Senator Olugbenga Obadara, Chairman of Sweet FM, echoed these sentiments, affirming the station’s commitment to promoting meaningful discourse on national development.
