The Nigerian Army announced that its troops, in collaboration with the Hybrid Force and the Civilian Joint Task Force, killed seven terrorists in Borno State on Saturday.

The operations were part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the North East region.

According to a statement from the military, the troops received credible intelligence about the movement of terrorists planning a nefarious mission.

Acting on this information, the troops laid an ambush around the Lawanti area, resulting in a firefight that neutralized six terrorists.

After overpowering the terrorists, the troops recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) and 40 rounds of 7.62 x 51 mm belted ammunition.

In a separate operation, based on actionable intelligence, the troops set up another ambush at a suspected terrorist crossing point near Shetimari, Sabon-Gari, and the Amarwa Bulamari Exchange Point in Bama Local Government Area.

During this engagement, the troops killed one terrorist, while others managed to flee the scene.

The military has stated that troops are currently pursuing the fleeing terrorists.

The statement from the military highlighted the high morale among the troops as they intensify efforts to combat terrorism and ensure the safety and security of the region and other troubled areas in Nigeria.

The military also called on the public to continue supporting and cooperating with the troops in their operations.

“Troops’ morale remains high, as they join forces to more committedly combat terrorism and ensure the safety and security of the region and other troubled areas of the country.

“We urge members of the public to continue to cooperate with the troops, as they conduct their operations to protect the citizenry against the nation’s adversaries,” the statement read.
