Stop Harmful Chemicals In Food Storage: Soludo’s Wife Warns Traders

Dr. Nonye Soludo, wife of the Anambra State Governor, has issued a strong warning to traders, urging them to cease the use of harmful chemicals in food preservation.

Her appeal came during an address to traders at Nkwo Nnewi Market, part of her ongoing Healthy Living Market outreach campaign.

In her speech, Dr. Soludo highlighted the serious health risks associated with using chemicals for food storage.

She pointed out that many traders, possibly unaware of the dangers, use these substances to extend the shelf life of their products.

“These chemicals can lead to life-threatening diseases,” she cautioned, emphasizing the importance of adopting safer food handling practices.

Dr. Soludo’s outreach is part of a broader initiative to promote healthier living standards across Anambra State.

She stressed that while the convenience of preserving food with chemicals might seem beneficial in the short term, the long-term health implications could be severe.

“We must prioritize human health over preservation convenience,” she urged.

Beyond food storage, Dr. Soludo also underscored the importance of environmental and personal hygiene in creating healthier market environments and communities.

Her campaign seeks to educate traders on the critical role of cleanliness in preventing diseases and promoting overall well-being.

The Healthy Living Market outreach has garnered positive feedback from the community.

Mr. Humphrey Anuna, President-General of the Anambra State Amalgamated Traders Association, praised Dr. Soludo for her commitment to public health.

He noted the significant impact the campaign has had on the lives of residents, particularly through the provision of essential hygiene supplies.

“We are grateful for Dr. Soludo’s dedication to improving public health and hygiene standards,” Anuna said.

He acknowledged the crucial role her efforts play in fostering a healthier community and expressed the traders’ collective appreciation for her ongoing support.
