The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Ogun I Area Command, Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller James Ojo, has paid a courtesy visit to key traditional rulers and security agencies in Ogun State.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the move was to enhance security and economic growth along Nigeria’s borders.
The Public Relations Officer for Customs Area Controller, Chief Superintendent of Customs, Hammed Oloyede in a statement said the initiative is aimed at fostering sustainable collaboration to combat smuggling and boost economic activities through shared intelligence and joint operations.
Oloyede in the statement made available to PLATFORM TIMES explained that during the visit, Comptroller Ojo met with the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, along with other distinguished traditional rulers in the state.
Ojo expressed his deep gratitude for their consistent support and emphasized the vital role traditional institutions play in maintaining peace and security within their communities.
In the statement, Comptroller Ojo while highlighting their influence and insights, called for their continued cooperation in enhancing border security and tackling smuggling activities.
According to the statement, Comptroller Ojo’s engagements also extended to sister security agencies in the State, including the Nigerian Police Force, 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Federal Road Safety Corps, Defence Intelligence Agency, and Nigeria Correctional Service.
The statement stated that the discussions centered on the necessity of robust and ongoing collaboration among security agencies to address the challenges posed by smuggling and other cross-border crimes.
He added that by pooling intelligence, resources, and expertise, the Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies aim to create a strong defense against threats to Nigeria’s economic stability and national security.
Ojo said
the courtesy visit aligns with the strategic vision of the Comptroller General of Customs, who advocates consolidation, collaboration, and innovation.
Comptroller Ojo reiterated the Ogun I Area Command’s commitment to these principles, noting that such engagements are crucial for fostering a secure and prosperous environment for the residents of Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
