The Islamic Humanitarian Society of Nigeria (IHS) has announced that it had facilitated the release of 555 inmates, paid hospital bills for 227 patients, and empowered 436 individuals through loans and grants over the past 25 years.
The IHS stated this during a courtesy visit to the Ogun State Police Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokutaas part of activities to mark it’s 25 years of dedicated service with remarkable achievements in prison and hospital outreach and economic empowerment.
The National Coordinator of IHS, Rashid Okenla, highlighted these accomplishments
He acknowledged the challenges faced along the way but credited Allah’s blessings for enabling the organisation to make substantial impacts.
“Our journey has been rough, but with Allah’s blessings, we have been able to achieve significant milestones. We are committed to prison and hospital Dawah, as well as supporting the less privileged in society,” Okenla stated.
He added that the IHS has spent the last 25 years focused on humanitarian services, significantly impacting various communities.
Okenla emphasised the importance of public support for these services to help balance societal disparities.
She noted that many inmates, who might have been forgotten, were given a second chance through the organization’s efforts.
Additionally, numerous individuals received assistance in offsetting their hospital bills, while others were empowered economically through loans and grants.
Okenla called for increased public support and appealed for police collaboration to enhance the organization’s humanitarian efforts.
He stressed that such partnerships are crucial in effectively discharging their duties and reaching more people in need.
In response, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ismahil Sagir, who represented the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, pledged the police’s support for IHS and similar organisations making a positive impact.
Sagir assured that the police would work in synergy with IHS to further its mission and amplify its impact on society.
“The police are committed to partnering with IHS and other organizations that contribute positively to the community.
We will work together to create a more significant impact on the lives of many,” Sagir affirmed.
