The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family, government, and people of Imo State following the passing of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, who also served as the Chairman of Champion Newspapers, was hailed by the Sultan as a long-time friend and influential figure in both the sports and media sectors.
The statement read that their acquaintance dates back to the days of the Sultan’s military service and his involvement in national football administration, a period when Iwuanyanwu was notably active as the proprietor of Iwuanyanwu Nationale Football Club.
In his statement, the Sultan praised Iwuanyanwu for his exceptional efforts in fostering unity among Nigerians.
He emphasised the late leader’s role in bridging divides across ethnic and religious lines, a mission that was evident in his numerous meetings aimed at promoting peace and understanding within the country.
The Sultan acknowledged Iwuanyanwu’s dedication to enhancing national cohesion and his sincere attempts to address the complex dynamics of Nigeria’s socio-political landscape.
“Chief Iwuanyanwu will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to uniting Nigerians,” the Sultan noted.
