Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed and many members of the National and State Houses of Assembly on Wednesday, attended a stakeholders meeting of the party convened by Governor Alex Otti.

The meeting which was held at the Banquet Hall of the Abia State government house in Umuahia, was boycotted by the National Chairman of the LP, Mr Julius Abure.

However, Governor Alex Otti, his Deputy, Ikechuckwu Emetu, some members of the National Assembly of LP extraction including Senator Victor Umeh, Obi Aguocha, members of State House of Assembly were in Umuahia to honour the meeting.

Also, the former Governorship candidate of LP in Imo, Athan Achonu and some other former Governorship candidates of the party.

The absence of Julius Abure at the event was predictable as he was opposed to the Umuahia meeting.

During the meeting, former Minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman was appointed as the Chairperson of the 29-man Caretaker committee to pilot the affairs of the party and to guide it to electoral success while Darlington Nwokocha was named the Secretary.

Details of the meeting were still sketchy at the time of this report but the Special Adviser to Governor Otti on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma described it as a huge success.
