NSCDC nabs 24-yr-old suspected cable vandal in Taraba

The Taraba State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, paraded a 24-year-old suspected vandal on Wednesday.

The suspect, who was identified as Mustapha Aminu, was allegedly arrested in connection with the vandalisation of power cable.

Parading the suspect, the state commander, Adamu Salih, said the vandalised power cable belongs to the State Ministry of Energy and Economic Development.

The suspect, according to Salih, was arrested on August 27, 2024, at Jauro Gana, in the Jalingo metropolis, by the men of the command while on routine patrol.

The feat, as gathered by DAILY POST was made possible following a tip-off from some good Samaritans.

“Acting on a tip-off, we arrested the suspect when he stole the armoured cable that was used in the installation of street lights on the newly-constructed road from Kpanti-Napu to Jauro Yinu on Saturday, 24th August 2024 and hid it in a nearby farm.

“Three days later, he came to pick up the cable to move it to Enugu State, where he intended to sell it at a more exorbitant price but luck ran out of him as he was nabbed by the NSCDC operatives,” the commander stated.

The commander decried the level of moral decadence among some youths, whom he said should have engaged themselves meaningfully in economic activities.

He admonished parents and guardians to beam searchlights on the wards and children to discourage them from acts capable of truncating their dreams.
