Leny Yoro picked Manchester United over Real Madrid, after the Premier League club offered more money, Marca reports.
The 18-year-old was the subject of a transfer tussle between major European teams this summer.
But Yoro eventually signed for the Red Devils after United successfully negotiated a £52m fee with Lille.
It has now emerged that Madrid offered Yoro a pay packet of £2.5m per season, while the Red Devils tabled a deal on personal terms that was triple of that offer.
A total of £8.1m per year was agreed with Yoro by the 13-time Premier League champions as Madrid decided not to increase their bid and instead started to explore other options.
