The Ekiti State University, EKSU, Ado Ekiti, Alumni, has charged the new Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Joseph Babalola Ayodele to do his best to transform the university.
The Chairman of EKSU Alumni, Mr Adetunji Aribasoye, made the call when he led his team to pay a courtesy visit to the new Vice-Chancellor.
The Chairman, while congratulating Prof. Ayodele on behalf of all members of the chapter on his appointment as the 9th substantive EKSU Vice-Chancellor warned him that the task would be challenging having risen through the ranks to his new position.
Aribasoye said, “Do not hesitate to take the hard decisions that will revamp the institution without minding whose ox is gored”.
The body also called the VC’s attention to some issues including the restructuring of the post-graduate study of the institution, especially as students who should spend nothing less than two years now spend more than five years in school.
He said, “The chapter wishes to project the College to the world to bring in more students and boost the internally generated revenue of the University in the long run.
In addition, we recommended ”a whistle-blower policy that will allow students have seamless access to relevant information with genuine evidence to the Vice-Chancellor without the fear of being victimized or molested.
“We also want the EKSU management to approve some pieces of land owned by the University for the chapter to use for farming to generate IGR for the chapter to meet up with some of its needs and runnings of the Secretariat.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the Alumni President, Dipo Bamisaye for all the support and encouragement given him to become the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Prof. Ayodele who expressed confidence that he would keep enjoying their support as an alumni member of the institution said God, diligence, hard work and faith were factors that helped him in his pursuit.
The Vice-chancellor informed that the Postgraduate issues were handled on his assumption of office saying the Provost of the college had been directed to jettison all the draconian rules impeding the smooth running of the college.
He added that the alumni had invested so much in ensuring that transcripts and certificates of ex-students are processed seamlessly as against what was obtainable previously, ensuring that the University Management shall complement the lofty efforts to ensure transcript processing does not exceed 72 hours from application.
The VC thereafter approved all the proposed programs of the Chapter as outlined by its Chairman Mr Aribasoye.
