Nigerian troops have successfully neutralized a group of terrorists following a confrontation in Bassa village, Shiroro LGA of Niger State.
The operation comes as part of ongoing efforts to secure vulnerable communities in the state facing threats from armed terrorists.
This was made known on Sunday by Zagazola Makama, a Lake Chad Basin counterterrorism and insurgency expert, in a post on his X handle.
Makama disclosed that the gallant efforts of the troops prevented the attack on the community, resulting in the elimination of several insurgents.
The security expert stated that the footage from the operation shows the aftermath of the clash, with the bodies of the terrorists killed in the attack on display.
Makama added that sources informed him that military authorities will soon provide further details as they are presently monitoring the area to prevent any potential reprisals and ensure the safety of residents.
