Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has appointed Lekan Adeniran as his new Chief Press Secretary (CPS), succeeding Kunle Somorin, who held the position during the governor’s first term.

The announcement was made on Tuesday through a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tokunbo Talabi.

Talabi explained that Adeniran possesses extensive qualifications, being a Mass Communication graduate with a remarkable journalistic career spanning over three decades.

The statement highlighted that Lekan Adeniran embarked on his journalism journey in 1992 at The Guardian.

During this time, he reported on significant events, including the proceedings of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Lagos State House of Assembly, and activities at the Governor’s Office in Alausa, Ikeja.

In 2001, Adeniran transitioned from The Guardian to join the newly established Daily Independent.

He subsequently contributed his skills to various publications, including the Compass, Next, and National Mirror newspapers.

Notably, he served as the editor of WesternPost, an online newspaper publication, before his recent appointment.

“He left The Guardian in 2001 to join the newly established Daily Independent. The new CPS also worked with the Compass, Next, and National Mirror newspapers. Before the appointment, he was the editor of WesternPost, an online newspaper publication,” the statement read in part.
