The governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has praised British-Nigerian heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, for his victory over Jermaine Franklin in their recent bout.
In a statement released on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, Abiodun commended Joshua for making Nigeria and Ogun state proud with his latest feat.
He acknowledged Joshua’s determination and resilience in overcoming past defeats and proving himself as a champion.
Abiodun urged Joshua to use his latest triumph as a catalyst for a strong comeback and not to relent in his efforts to regain his position in the boxing world.
The governor described Joshua as a role model and a shining star of the state, stating that his administration would continue to support the development of world-class sports facilities to produce more talented athletes like Joshua.
Abiodun also expressed his confidence that Joshua’s accomplishments at the international level would inspire young professionals, especially sportsmen and women, not to be discouraged by temporary setbacks.
The governor wished Joshua a successful career in boxing and urged him to continue to be a worthy ambassador of Nigeria and Ogun state to the younger generation and aspiring boxers.
