    Abiodun Commends Armed Forces’ Selflessness at Armed Forces Remembrance Day Jumat Service

    Ogun State Governor,Dapo Abiodun, urged Nigerians to remember and honor the selflessness and dedication exhibited by the Nigerian Armed Forces in defending the nation’s sovereignty and unity. 

    Speaking at the special Jumat Service to commemorate the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the Central Mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta, the governor emphasized the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by the armed forces.

    Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun reiterated Ogun State’s tradition of supporting and honouring the Armed Forces.

     He highlighted the critical role played by the armed forces in maintaining societal stability, stressing that a safe and secure environment is essential for progress and development.

     The governor assured continuous efforts to enhance security and support the armed forces and other paramilitary agencies.

    Abiodun acknowledged the Armed Forces’ contributions to defending against external threats and addressing internal security challenges. 

    He commended their commitment to duty and unwavering loyalty to the nation. 

    Urging citizens to renew their commitment to the ideals past heroes fought for, he emphasised the collective responsibility to ensure that the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces were not in vain.

    In his sermon, Musafir of Egbaland, Sheik Taofeek Amolegbe, highlighted the great sacrifices made by the departed souls in the Nigerian Army for the country’s unity and peace. 

    He emphasized the inevitability of conflicts in society and underscored the significance of yearly remembrance in honoring those who died.

    The Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, HRM, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, expressed optimism about Nigeria’s greatness and prayed for the repose of the departed souls. He also prayed for God’s protection over those in active service.

    The Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Toyin Taiwo, appreciated the Nigerian Army for their sacrifice and dedication, praying for the repose of their souls. 

    He saluted the courage, selflessness, and commitment of the officers in maintaining peace.

    The programme  included the reading from the Holy Qur’an and prayers for Governor Dapo Abiodun, the state, and the nation at large.
