The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has congratulated the Nigerian playwright, novelist and poet, Professor Woke Soyinka on his 89th birthday anniversary.
Abiodun, on his Twitter handle, on Thursday, praised Prof Soyinka, adding that he was able to serve as a catalyst for social change as well as shaping our collective consciousness.
In his words, his (Prof Soyinka) contributions to the world of literature have enriched cultural heritage and left an indelible mark on the literary landscape.
He wrote, “dear Professor Akinwande Oluwole Babatunde Soyinka, on behalf of the people of Ogun state, I felicitate with you on your remarkable 89th birthday. I am privileged to extend my heartfelt congratulations to you, a distinguished Nobel laureate and an esteemed ambassador of literature across the globe.
“Through your words, you have ignited a spark of intellectual curiosity and fostered a deeper understanding of our shared humanity. Your contributions to the world of literature have enriched our cultural heritage and left an indelible mark on the literary landscape.
“Your literary achievements have not only brought immense pride to our nation but have also inspired countless individuals around the globe. Your words have not only entertained and enlightened but have also served as a catalyst for social change, stirring conversations and shaping our collective consciousness.”
The governor, thereby wished him good health, happiness, and continued success in his life journey.
