Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has issued a decisive directive for the immediate reconstruction of the pivotal Ita-Oshin-Ayetoro Road located within the Ogun West Senatorial District.

Governor Abiodun has directed the Ministry of Works to initiate a comprehensive assessment of the road as part of the preliminary phase before commencing the full-scale reconstruction project.

The announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony of the seven-kilometer Ibooro/Imasayi/Ayetoro Road in the Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

Elaborating on the need for the Ita-Oshin-Ayetoro Road’s restoration, Governor Abiodun emphasized its strategic importance for facilitating seamless movement between Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, and the various communities, particularly Ibooro.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by the current condition of the federal road, the governor asserted that its reconstruction was essential to ensure a comfortable travel experience.

Governor Abiodun outlined his administration’s plan to divide the road into manageable phases, thereby expediting the reconstruction process.

He assured that the journey from the state capital to Ayetoro would soon transform into a pleasurable and efficient commute.

Governor Abiodun stated, “Today, I made the journey from Abeokuta to this junction through Ita-Oshin. I inquired about the road’s length, as it’s another federal road amidst several others in Ogun State.

It’s imperative that we address this situation, and I’m making that announcement today.”

He continued, “I have instructed the Ministry of Works to promptly assess the road stretch from Ita-Oshin to Ibooro. We’ll segment it into two or three phases and begin immediate reconstruction.”

Governor Abiodun also inaugurated the second phase of the Ibooro/Imassyi/Ayetoro Road project, expressing his commitment to ensuring its timely completion.

He further appealed to the citizens of the state to steadfastly support the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, notably highlighting the positive impact of the president’s petroleum industry deregulation on the nation’s future.

In response, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, the Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure, commended the decision, noting that the previously dilapidated state of the road had posed challenges for the local residents.

The reconstructed road is expected to alleviate flooding issues and enable smoother transportation for both commuters and the transportation of agricultural produce.
