The African Democracy Congress governorship candidate in Ogun State, Barr Biyi Otegbeye, has decried Governor Dapo Abiodun’s neglect for previous administrations’ projects in the state.
Otegbeye said the state and citizens would have witnessed more developmental projects and dividend of democracy but for Abiodun’s envy of past governors.
Otegbeye said this on Thursday, in a network broadcast interview in the build up to Saturday’s election.
He said, “a governor of a state that doesn’t take care of the state’s property, so what’s his job? The properties are not being maintained and that is why the state is not developing.
“There are other things that caused this, which is envy. Envy is not making him continue the jobs of his predecessors. In his understanding, he thought if he continues his predecessors’ work, it would be like a draw back for him. So, all the projects of the past governor, he neglected it.
“That OGTV, Gov Ibikunle Amosun provided the place with efficient equipment, and he gave it an international status. But, the new administration thought if he contributed to it, he won’t be given any credit. Also, the 100-bed hospital that that Senator Ibikunle Amosun did, it has been completed, it just need to be launched, but it was not, it’s now surrounded with bushes. Why? because Abiodun didn’t want to do something that he won’t take credit for. So all that was done by the past government were abandoned totally,”
Making a case of the continuity of governance in Lagos state, Otegbeye promised to maintain and renovate all abandoned projects by previous administrations.
“What is being greatly done by past administration, let’s support just for the benefit of Ogun people and not ours. It’s not that we don’t have our plans, but all good works that have been abandoned, we would revisit them, from Amosun to Osoba and other past leaders.
“We would do everything that would benefit Ogun people. We would renovate everything”, he concluded.
