The media team of the Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has spent a humongous N2,270,995,081.79 between 2020 and 2023, as revealed by PLATFORM TIMES’s investigation.
Abiodun assumed office on May 29, 2019, succeeding Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
PLATFORM TIMES acquired the financial records compiled on the state’s portal, openstates.ng.
PLATFORM TIMES’s checks exposed that, under the guise of the Ministry of Information and Strategy in 2020, the team received N562,226,526.93.
Further findings revealed that in 2021, the team received N600,906,805.15, in 2022, a sum of N529,513,227.16, and in 2023, N578,348,522.10 were received .
While checking the revenue acquired so far, PLATFORM TIMES gathered that a sum of N98,375,519.88 was realized as revenue by the ministry, excluding the other four agencies.
The ministry’s expenses also excluded media expenditure from other ministries.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that in 2020, the ministry generated N2,994,000.00; in 2021, N22,091,250; in 2022,
N38,006,062.50 was generated, while in 2023, a sum of N35,284,207.38 was generated.
Meanwhile, the media team, led by Commissioner for Information and Strategy, closely working with the Special Assistant to the governor on New Media, SF OJo Emmanuel, is under investigation over an alleged N92.9 million scandal.
PLATFORM TIMES had reported that the State House of Assembly summoned former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Waheed Odusile, and the two-term Special Assistant to the governor on New Media, SF OJo Emmanuel, along with other officials.
Emmanuel, who was away in Canada, was accused of receiving over N2million public funds through his personal account and has been summoned.
PLATFORM TIMES, however, gathered that Emmanuel may shun the invitation due to what a source described as a dicey situation for the media aide.
It was learned that Emmanuel had fled the country under the guise of seeking asylum with his family during the past administration.
As the assembly awaits the appearance of the officials and Emmanuel, who was away in Canada, there is uncertainty regarding whether he will honour the invitation.
