In a landmark move aimed at enhancing the welfare of grassroots workers, Adamawa State Governor, His Excellency Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has commenced the payment of the new ₦70,000 minimum wage to local government employees across the state.
This development was highlighted during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), who came to express their profound gratitude to the Governor for the wage increase. The union commended Governor Fintiri for his unwavering commitment to workers’ welfare and for setting a commendable precedent in labor relations.
In his remarks, Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving the standard of living for all workers in the state. He also used the occasion to announce a major financial relief package for retired workers, revealing that the state government will release ₦5 billion next month to settle outstanding entitlements owed to retirees.

“This is part of our broader plan to not only support those currently in service but also to honor our retirees who have dedicated their lives to the development of our state,” Governor Fintiri stated.
