The 2023 Ogun State gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and Lisa Aje of Egbaland, Hon. (Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu, has formally sought approval from the Abeokuta South Local Government to reconstruct the Isale Oja Bridge at Kuto Market.
In a letter dated January 20, 2025, addressed to the council chairman, Balogun Olaniyi Afeez, Adebutu reiterated his dedication to fostering economic growth in Egbaland through improved infrastructure.
He described Kuto Market as a vital hub for commerce and emphasized the urgent need for accessible and motorable roads to enhance the market’s viability and the welfare of its users.
The request, made public on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, by Adebutu’s media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, highlights the former gubernatorial candidate’s commitment to addressing the infrastructural challenges faced by the community. An acknowledged copy of the letter was shared with the press.
“As the Lisa Aje of Egbaland, one of my many commitments is ensuring a conducive market environment and accessible roads that facilitate economic activities and improve the welfare of our people in Egbaland,” the letter read.
Adebutu expressed concerns about the dilapidated state of the Isale Oja Bridge, describing it as a long-standing challenge for traders, residents, and commuters in the Kuto, Nawair-udeen, and Ijaye areas.
