…Broadcaster, Olufemi Omilani, Inaugurated As PRO
The African Church has officially inaugurated the Abeokuta Central Diocese, with the Rt. Rev’d Adebola Adewale enthroned as its pioneer Bishop.
The historic enthronement ceremony took place on Saturday, at the African Church, Ebenezer Cathedral, Ita Oshin, Abeokuta.
The event was officiated by the Archbishop of Ogun Province, His Grace, The Most Reverend S.O.B. Ojumu.
The new Abeokuta Central Diocese was carved out of the old Abeokuta Diocese, which previously included archdeaconries such as Ita Iyalode, Ita Oshin, Owu Dotun, Ilawo, Arigbajo, Wasinmi, Onse Olose, Abalabi, Ajegunle, and Onigbedu.
During the ceremony, the church also inaugurated key officers to oversee administrative and spiritual affairs of the new diocese.
Among them were Chief E.O. Ojeleye (Vice Lay President), Bro. Akindele Babajide Gabriel (Secretary), Hon. Dayo Ogunyinka (Treasurer), Bro. Ogundipe Rotimi Damilola (Financial Secretary), and Rev. Canon Sesan Adelekan (Assistant Secretary – Clergy).
Others include Mr. Olufemi Omilani, a renowned broadcaster, who was inaugurated as the pioneer Public Relations Officer (PRO); Barr. Shobande Pelumi (Legal Adviser); Chief S.O. Oladeinde and Mr. Peter Fadery (Joint Auditors); Bro. Abidoye Oladele (Education Secretary); Mrs. R.A. Fagbenro (Assistant Secretary); and Sis. Ogundipe Bunmi Busayo (Statistician).
Delivering his sermon, Archbishop Ojumu congratulated Bishop Adewale on his new appointment and charged him to demonstrate courage, wisdom, and humility in leading the diocese.
He urged the clergy and laity to support the new bishop in his mission to strengthen faith and unity within the church.
The enthronement ceremony attracted clergy, dignitaries, and worshippers from across Ogun State, who described the event as a milestone in the expansion of the African Church’s spiritual and administrative structure.
