The Public Complaints Commission (PCC) in Ogun State, under the leadership of Hon. Morakinyo OgoOluwa Akinleye has reportedly received 55 Complaints in the first 100 days he assumed office.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that Akinleye assumed office on October 2, 2024, as the Federal Commissioner of the Nigerian Ombudsman.
It was further gathered that in the last 100 days Akinleye has driven substantial reforms aimed at enhancing justice accessibility and improving service delivery across Ogun State.
A statement issued a d obtained by PLATFORM TIMES on Thursday showed that Hon. Akinleye wasted no time in initiating critical changes to rejuvenate the PCC into a more responsive and efficient agency.
According to the report, his strategic approach began with a comprehensive overhaul of the Commission’s physical infrastructure, starting with a refurbishment of its headquarters at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.
Recognizing the imperative of a conducive work environment, he conducted a thorough staff audit, secured additional office space, and restored uninterrupted power supply to the headquarters.
In addition to infrastructural upgrades, he implemented strategic measures such as regular management reviews, the establishment of an Electricity Complaints Desk, and the dissemination of public awareness campaigns through jingles aimed at sensitizing residents about the Commission’s services.
The statement further stated that ,within his first three months in office, Akinleye has held consultations with influential figures including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Ogun State Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, and the State Chief Judge, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of traditional institutions, he sought the support of monarchs such as the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, and the Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege.
PLATFORM TIMES further gathered that his outreach extended to religious leaders including the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ogun State, Reverend Emmanuel Oludaisi Adekunle, and the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Alhaji Muhammed Sa’ad Bamgbola.
Hon. Akinleye was also reported to have engaged with heads of security agencies, reinforcing the Commission’s commitment to justice and fairness.
It was learnt that his consultations included the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Police Force, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
In the education and healthcare sectors, he met with the Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, and the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, aimed at fostering inter-agency collaboration to enhance public complaint resolution.
Public Awareness and Case Resolution Leveraging various media platforms, Akinleye utilized radio and television appearances to educate the public on the PCC’s role in addressing administrative injustices.
His proactive efforts yielded significant outcomes, as the PCC Ogun State office received a total of 55 complaints within his first 100 days.
These cases encompassed grievances against both private entities and governmental bodies, with many already advancing towards resolution, indicative of the Commission’s renewed efficiency.
