Christ Apostolic Grammar School (CAGS) in Iperu-Remo marked its 65th anniversary with a grand celebration, reflecting on its historic role in shaping education in the region.
The event, attended by alumni, dignitaries, and members of the Iperu-Remo community, showcased the remarkable strides the school has made through the years, underscoring its enduring legacy and continued growth.
The Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, who graced the occasion as the royal patron, commended the efforts of the Old Students Association for their instrumental role in the school’s development.
He emphasized the significance of the school’s contributions, both academically and socially, to the broader community over its six decades of existence.
“As an institution that has molded countless lives, Christ Apostolic Grammar School deserves recognition for its longstanding commitment to excellence in education, moral upbringing, and spiritual growth,” Oba Ajayi said.
“The efforts to renovate school facilities, establish a mini-hospital, and provide new buses for transportation are commendable. I encourage other individuals and organizations to follow this example of selflessness, as it will leave an indelible mark on the community.”
The celebration, held on the school grounds, marked the launch of several significant projects designed to further enhance the school’s educational environment.
These included the unveiling of a newly constructed school gate, the establishment of a well-equipped sick laboratory, and the donation of two buses to improve transportation for students and staff.
The event also highlighted the school’s growth, with alumni and local leaders reflecting on the institution’s impressive track record of academic success and community development.
In his address, the National President of the Old Students Association, Hon. Tope Akintunde, emphasized the vital role the school has played in shaping the lives of its alumni.
“This anniversary is not just a celebration of our past achievements, but a reminder of our duty to give back,” Akintunde said.
“Christ Apostolic Grammar School instilled in us values of integrity, hard work, and service, and today, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that the next generation of students receives even greater opportunities than we did.”
The event also drew significant political and educational figures, including Ogun State’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, who represented Governor Dapo Abiodun.
In his speech, Arigbabu lauded the efforts of the Old Students Association and underscored the importance of public-private partnerships in improving education.
He also highlighted the Ogun State Education Refertilization Agenda (OGSERA), which seeks to revitalize education in the state through infrastructure upgrades and teacher training, with CAGS being one of the flagship schools benefiting from these initiatives.
“The Abiodun administration has prioritized the renovation of schools, curriculum development, and technological innovation in education,” Arigbabuwo said.
“CAGS has been recognized as a key beneficiary, receiving enhanced facilities, solar generators, and smart televisions as part of the state’s drive to ensure that schools are well-equipped to meet the needs of students.”
