The Alake of Egbaland, Oba Dr. Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, has pledged unwavering support for the Annual Yoruba History and Heritage Celebration, declaring it a pivotal moment for Yoruba unity.
Hosting the Local Organizing Committee led by Olori Aminat Matemilola, Oba Gbadebo assured the committee of his commitment to liaise with fellow Royal Fathers to ensure the event’s resounding success.
He lauded the initiative by the Foundation of Preservation of Yoruba Culture and Heritage, highlighting its alignment with the United Nations World Diversity Day on May 21st.
In her remarks, Olori Ameenat Matemilola, leader of the organizing team, stated the event’s goal of fostering collaboration among policymakers, traditional institutions, academia, and Yoruba groups to champion the global celebration of Yoruba heritage.
Set to take place at the June 12 Cultural Centre on May 21st, the celebration boasts of distinguished figures, with His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Enitan, gracing the occasion as the Royal Guest of Honour.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo will chair the event, joined by State Governor Dapo Abiodun as the Special Guest of Honour and Chief Host.
The Local Organizing Committee, chaired by Dr. Tola Adenekan, include prominent members such as Chief Biodun Lasile, Prince Razak Ayinla, and Mrs. Babatunde Adetutu, among others.
With such robust backing from the Alake and the distinguished lineup of guests, the Annual Yoruba History and Heritage Celebration promises to be a momentous occasion celebrating the rich cultural tapestry and collective identity of the Yoruba people
